How long have you been in this industry? 8 years
What were your previous occupations? I have been a Risk Specialist for 8 years starting at one of the Major Banks, then a large Toowoomba Accounting firm and more recently running my own Wealth Protection Business.
Why did you join your industry? I was drawn to the Financial Planning industry through relationships with Financial Planners when working at the Bank
How did you get started in your industry? I was mentored with Senior Financial Planners at the Bank and completed my study whilst working Full-Time in the Branches.
What advice would you give someone starting out in your industry? Be eager to learn, be keen to understand all aspects of the business, be open to advice from Mentors and new industry ideas/innovations. The job is rewarding and worth the hard work.
What do you enjoy most about where you work? The team atmosphere in the office, positive attitudes of the staff, and the professionalism of the Firm.
What one sentence would you like people to use in describing the way you do business? Informative, thorough, professional, and providing the best service and advice in an easy to understand manner.
What products/services to you sell/offer? I don't sell products. I provide strategies and advice to clients to ensure their businesses and/or families are adequately protected in the event something unforeseen happening. The products such as Life, Total and Permanent Disability, Trauma Insurances, and Income Protection are merely the vehicles used to give clients Peace of Mind. It's all about making sure the right money, goes to the right people, at the right time.
What is your point of difference? Passion. I love what I do and pride myself in being one of the best in my field. Our service offering is second to none, I take a holistic approach to Wealth Protection and Estate Planning, providing all clients with the best advice, strategies, products, and structures tailored to their individual needs. From strategy implementation, product placement, annual reviews, and in some cases where a Claim occurs - I am there to assist the client in every way necessary.
What significant changes have taken place in your profession over the years? Regulations and compliance requirements from the industry governing bodies have become significantly tougher since I joined the industry. I see this as a good thing - legislation has been coming down harder on the 'Cowboys' (Used Car Salesmen) of the industry and forcing Advisers to really consider what is best for each individual client. I personally welcome the changes and any future changes which in the end benefit the client.
