My Top 3 Thematic ETFs for 2023

My Top 3 Thematic ETFs for 2023

I’ve been working with ETFs since 2018, and I have seen first-hand how ETFs can help investors achieve their financial goals. If you’re interested in including ETFs in your investment portfolio, there are several options to consider. One option is investing in thematic ETFs.

Thematic ETFs are designed to appeal to investors who are looking for exposure to specific trends or industries that are expected to grow in the future. Some thematic ETFs, for example, might invest in companies involved in renewable energy, artificial intelligence, or digital disruption. They can also focus on more broader themes such as sustainability, demographics, or innovation.

For short-term investors, thematic ETFs can offer opportunities for tactical allocation and potential short-term gains.

Investors should be aware though, that these ETFs can be more volatile than broad market ETFs and may not necessarily provide short-term returns.

Long-term investors can use thematic ETFs to gain exposure to sectors or trends that are expected to grow over a longer period of time. They can ride through market volatility or employ a more active approach and choose those themes best suited to the current or forecast environment.

Here are my top 3 thematic ETFs for investors to consider:

  • HACK – Betashares Global Cybersecurity
  • WIRE – Global X Copper Miners
  • RBTZ – Betashares Global Robotics & Artificial Intelligence

Investors considering thematic ETFs should carefully evaluate the strategy and holdings of the ETF, as well as the management fees and other costs. It's also important to consider whether the ETF aligns with the investor's overall investment objectives and risk tolerance. If you are thinking of investing in thematic ETFs and would like some guidance, I’m always happy to arrange a time for a talk.

Investing involves risks, including the potential loss of principal. Before investing in any Exchange Traded Fund (ETF), investors should carefully consider the investment objectives, risks and expenses of the ETF and its investment strategy. Past performance is no guarantee of future results, and investment returns and principal value may fluctuate so that an investor's shares, when redeemed, may be worth more or less than their original cost. The ETF's Product Disclosure Statement and Target Market Determination contains this and other information about the ETF and should be read carefully before investing.

This is general advice only, no consideration has been made for your current circumstances, attitude to risk or goals and objectives. Investors should consult their own financial advisor before making any investment decisions.
